COSHH Training
Control hazardous substances safely and meet your duties under the COSHH Regulations 2002.
The Online Electrical Safety Training Course is designed for employees with little or no existing knowledge of electrical safety, making it ideal for workplace induction and refresher training — covering electrical hazards, the law, safe use of equipment and what to do in an emergency.

Electricity is one of the most common causes of serious workplace injuries and fatalities in the UK, yet most electrical accidents are entirely preventable with the right awareness and safe working practices. This course explains how electricity can cause harm, the most common electrical hazards found in UK workplaces, and the legal requirements that apply under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. It covers the safe use of electrical equipment, visual inspection, portable appliance testing (PAT) awareness, emergency procedures, and the responsibilities of both employers and employees.
Suitable for all UK workplaces — including offices, warehouses, retail, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and education settings — the course is delivered fully online, allowing learners to complete training at their own pace. Upon successful completion, learners receive an instant digital Electrical Safety Certificate, accredited by RoSPA, providing recognised evidence of electrical safety awareness training.
The course gives learners the confidence and knowledge to use electrical equipment safely and to recognise when equipment should be taken out of service.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. No prior learning, pre-course reading, or previous health and safety qualifications are required. The course is designed for employees with little or no existing knowledge of electrical safety.
By the end of this electrical safety training you'll understand:
This course walks you through everyday electrical risks — spotting damaged cables and overloaded sockets, carrying out a visual check before use, knowing when to take equipment out of service and what to do in an emergency — so you can use electrical equipment safely and confidently every day.
It’s all online and self-paced, with short, easy-to-follow modules you can complete on any device in around 30 minutes.
Eight focused modules take you from the basics of electrical safety through to emergency procedures and workplace responsibilities — finishing with a final assessment. You can work through them at your own pace and revisit any topic as often as you need.
This opening module sets the scene for safe working with electricity, explaining why electrical safety matters in every UK workplace and how this training supports your legal duty of care. It introduces the key terms, concepts, and good-practice principles you will build on throughout the course, helping you understand why even routine tasks with everyday equipment deserve proper attention.
Here you learn how electricity injures people, covering electric shock, burns, fires, and the effects of electric current passing through the body. Understanding what makes electricity dangerous, and the conditions that increase risk, helps you recognise unsafe situations before they cause harm. This grounding is essential for anyone who works near or with electrical equipment.
This module identifies the electrical hazards you are most likely to encounter at work, such as damaged cables, overloaded sockets, faulty plugs, and equipment used in wet or harsh environments. You will learn how to spot these warning signs early and take simple steps to reduce the risk, supporting a safer working environment for you and your colleagues.
Focusing on the law, this module explains the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and what they require of employers and employees in the UK. You will understand your responsibilities for keeping electrical systems and equipment safe, why compliance matters, and how the regulations fit alongside wider health and safety duties in the workplace.
This practical module covers how to use electrical equipment safely day to day, including pre-use visual checks, correct handling of cables and plugs, and what to do if you find a fault. You will learn simple habits that prevent accidents, such as never overloading sockets and reporting damaged equipment promptly, helping protect yourself and those around you.
This module raises your awareness of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and the role it plays in keeping electrical equipment safe to use. You will learn what user checks and formal inspection involve, how often equipment may need testing, and why visual checks remain important between tests. It is ideal for understanding how PAT supports overall workplace electrical safety.
Knowing how to respond quickly can save lives, and this module explains the right steps to take during an electrical incident. You will learn how to make the area safe, isolate the power supply where possible, and provide appropriate first aid for electric shock or burns, as well as when and how to raise the alarm and call for help.
The final module clarifies who is responsible for what when it comes to electrical safety at work. You will understand the duties placed on employers to provide safe equipment and training, alongside the responsibilities employees hold to follow procedures and report concerns. This shared approach helps create a positive safety culture and keeps everyone better protected.

To earn your Electrical Safety Certificate, you'll complete a multiple-choice final assessment with an 80% pass mark. Retakes are included at no extra cost — if you do not pass on your first attempt, you can resit as many times as needed until you pass.
As soon as you pass, your instant digital Electrical Safety Certificate is issued immediately and available to download straight away. It confirms your RoSPA and CPD accreditation and can be presented to employers and enforcement authorities as recognised evidence of electrical safety awareness training. The certificate has no expiry date, although refresher training is recommended periodically to keep knowledge current.
